Brown Enviromental performed the removal of six fuel oil, diesel and gasoline underground storage tanks at a former sugar factory on a thirty-one acre parcel. Significant discharges of multiple products encompassing over three acres of land on the Philadelphia waterfront was discovered during subsequent site characterization activities. Soil and ground water impacts were delineated, site hydrologeological properties evaluated, and fate and transport modelling completed. Site closure was acheived through the attainment of the Site-Specific Standard by completing source removal, and by applying both engineering and institutional controls within a risk-based closure.
